Goal 16

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

All forms of violence and violence-related mortality shall be significantly reduced everywhere and the abuse and exploitation of children shall be ended. Ensure equal access to justice for all at national and international levels and build effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels.

Further, to ensure that decision-making at all levels is needs-based, inclusive, participatory and representative. By 2030, ensure that all people have a legal identity, in particular through birth registration. To ensure that people with impairments/disabilities also have equal access to justice, care must be taken in the implementation of this goal to ensure that accessibility is created in this area so that they are enabled to claim and protect their rights. Care must also be taken to ensure that they can participate in decision-making processes on an equal footing with other people. Actors in the justice system should be aware of the rights of persons with impairments/disabilities under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Ensure that all persons with impairment/disability are registered at birth and given a legal identity.
