National Sustainability Strategy

Although the 2030 Agenda contains global goals, these are to be implemented at national level and are the responsibility of each government. Thus, the German government is also responsible for implementation through national policy.

In a cabinet decision of December 2014, the Federal Government decided that the 2030 Agenda should be implemented in and by Germany by means of the National Sustainability Strategy. This is to be done by updating the National Sustainability Strategy, which covers both national and international responsibility in the context of international cooperation. The Federal Government launched the process of updating the National Sustainability Strategy in October 2015. The first draft will be published at the end of May/beginning of June, to be followed by a two-month consultation phase. The new National Sustainability Strategy is to be completed in autumn 2016.

Furthermore, bezev has been involved in ensuring that VENRO and the German Council of Disabled People have drawn up a joint demand paper "Making the implementation of the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development inclusive" and sent it to the Federal Government.

With reference to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in development cooperation, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has developed a plan for the implementation of the Global Contract on Development.
