Goal 5

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

This goal is intended to help end all forms of discrimination against women and girls everywhere in the world and eliminate all forms of violence in the public and private spheres.

Furthermore, to ensure full and effective participation and equal opportunities for women to assume leadership roles at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.
This goal is of particular importance for girls and women with impairments/disabilities, as they are particularly often victims of discrimination and violence. Consequently, they should be explicitly taken into account in corresponding implementation measures. This also applies to measures that strengthen women in taking on leadership roles so that their effective participation in political, economic and public life is also possible.
