Goal 1

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

This strong first target aims to eradicate absolute poverty completely by 2030 and to reduce relative poverty by at least half according to the respective national definitions.

This goal is particularly important for people with impairments/disabilities, as they are more likely to live in poverty than people without impairments. According to World Bank estimates, about 20% of people living in absolute poverty have an impairment/disability.
It is therefore important to include people with impairments/disabilities on an equal footing in all planned poverty reduction and social protection system building measures and to ensure their equal access to economic resources, basic services, land ownership, all forms of assets, including microfinance.
